Prayer

From Runescape - Wiki on Neoseeker

The prayer skill allows you to pray to the Gods of RuneScape for aid when combating tough monsters or enemies. Depending on your prayer level, you will be able to boost your combat abilities, make yourself invulnerable to certain forms of attack or deal extra damage to your opponents should they manage to kill you first.

Your prayer level will be slowly drained for as long as you have any prayers active. Several prayers can be stacked together, for example to boost your strength, attack and defence, but the drain-rates of those prayers will be combined, meaning you will lose prayer points quickly. You can pray at one of the many Altars scattered around RuneScape to fully restore your prayer points (the altar in the Monestary and the Nature Altar give you 2 extra prayer points), or drink either a Prayer Potion or Super Restore Potion (made using the herblore skill) to partially restore your prayer points.

Bones

The most common way of training prayer is to bury bones. Most monsters throughout RuneScape drop a type of bone every time they are killed, and since burying is a one-step process, it's very easy to train prayer while killing monsters. Experience from most bones is quite low, so it takes quite a while to train if you just bury the bones of the monsters you kill.

Pic Name Burying Exp Obtained from
Normal Bones Bones 4.5 Most small/average sized enemies in RuneScape, including men, women, goblins and spiders
Burnt Bones Burnt Bones 4.5 Level ? Wilderness, by the Chaos Alter
Wolf Bones Wolf Bones 4.5 Wolves on White Wolf Mountain, Feldip Hills
Monkey Bones Monkey Bones 5 Monkeys on Ape Atol, Ardougne Zoo
Bat Bones Bat Bones 5.3 Bats, Giant Bats and Albino Bats

Skeletal Wyvern Bones Skeletal Wyvern Bones 50 Skeletal Wyverns

Raurg Bones Raurg Bones 96 Stolen from Zorge Coffins
Dagannoth Bones Dagannoth Bones 125 Dagannoth Kings
Ourg Bones Ourg Bones 140 Stolen from Zorge Coffins

Long and Curved bones can be given to Bartak in Dorgesh-Kaan in exchange for 1k coins and (if your construction level is above 30) 1,500 construction experience. This reward is comparatively better than the 15 prayer experience you gain from burying the bones.

Ectofuntus

After partially completing the Ghosts Ahoy quest, you can use the Ectofuntus to receive four times as much prayer experience compared to just burying the bones. This training method is quite time consuming, but the advantage is not having to spend as much time or money gathering four times as many bones.

Player House Altars

Players with high enough Construction levels can build a Chapel in their house, and inside it place an altar and burners. When using bones on the best alter with the best burners lit, you will receive 3.5x as much experience as just burying bones.
